Milan Already Looking To Life After Kaka

Milan have gained €65 million from Kaka's transfer to Real Madrid, and president Silvio Berlusconi promised a few days ago that this sum would go towards signing new, important players.

According to gsvs.it, the main transfer target is Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko, who is valued at around €20m and rated as a very likely arrival.

Marco Borriello's continual struggles with injury could accelerate the negotiations for the Bosnian player, who finished first in the Bundesliga top-scorer list this past season.

In midfield, the Rossoneri are looking at the possibility of signing 24-year-old Hernanes of Sao Paulo, but in this case a lot will depend on Andrea Pirlo's situation.

Despite Berlusconi stating that Milan are fine in defense, Roma defender Philippe Mexes is still a possible target for the club. His alternative could be Alex Silva of Hamburg, whom coach Leonardo likes a lot.

In the end, Milan are set to rejuvenate the squad without spending too much, as their intention is to retain most of the money earned from the Kaka sale.

However, should their targets come through, then they would have also managed to considerably strengthen the team with the sale of one player, like Juventus did in 2001 with Zinedine Zidane's switch to Real Madrid.
